K2 Lime LiteAuthor – Christine Smith

The board I’m enjoying most right now is the K2 Lime Lite.  Super light, flexible, fun, and yet still quick to respond underfoot, this is a great women’s board for all over the mountain.

Being flat in the center and rocker at the tip and tail, this board is a nice compromise between a camber board and a rocker board. The flat allows for quick grip when the board is flexed or you need to keep steady when going fast, but the Tweekend lifted nose and tail are great for a playful riding style and smooth jibbing in and out of the park. K2’s Rhythm Core of blended woods makes this board lightweight and flexible, but also durable with tons of pop. These features combined also make the Lime Lite a playful powder companion too as the Tweekends help with float; you could even set your bindings back from this board’s centered stance on a heavy powder day for an effortless float.

Even though this board has so much play, the Twin Hyper Progressive side-cut is mellow at the ends for catch-free jibbing and turn initiation, but offers a more aggressive hold towards the center for a solid grip when in a deep turn or making quick changes. The zippy response of this board underfoot is thanks to the Carbon Web spreading from under the binding inserts out to the contact points quickly transferring more of your valuable energy from your feet straight to your edges. The extruded base also makes for easier fixes in the shop if you take some damage to the base of your board.

Overall, this board can be great for someone looking to learn and improve, or for an advanced rider looking for a board playful enough to jib around on but with enough attitude and grip to still take on big kickers or double blacks when you want to cruise all mountain. Keep in mind your ride is also affected by the rest of your set-up. If you want more response you can always add in a more aggressive binding or boot or if you want more play you can go with a softer binding or boot. At a petite 5’2”, 124 lbs, I enjoy riding the K2 Limelite 145 (a little short, but fun and easy to manipulate) with the All-Mountain Salomon Kiana boot and K2 Virtue or K2 Yeah Yeah binding to give my shorter, playful setup a little more aggressive response.

This board is definitely FamilyShred Approved!
